Paris Autumn Festival 2013 again heralds that time of year when the great city plays host to this world famous contemporary arts festival. Each year for four months various venues in central Paris and its suburbs present a feast of music, dance, film, theatre and the visual arts. This festival embraces and brings together a diversity of art forms featuring performers from all over the world, united by their shared ideals of peace and brotherhood. The Hotel Beaugrenelle Tour Eiffel thoroughly recommends this series of events commencing on September 13th.
The Paris Autumn Festival was founded in 1972 by Michael Guy with the support of the then President of the French Republic, Georges Pompidou. A non-profit organisation, the festival is funded by various authorities and private sponsors, and works in partnership with other festivals and organisations throughout the world in an exchange of talent, ideas and inspiration. This largest event of its type in the world is dedicated to bringing contemporary arts to public attention, fostering peace and co-operation and introducing exciting new talents.
This year some forty events will be taking place in around thirty venues. Municipal theatres, the Cirque d'Hiver, La Cigale and the Opera Bastille are amongst those associated with these events. The spotlight will be on South Africa, featuring talents such as Kyle Shepherd, the Cape Traditional Singers and the Fezeka Youth Choir and many more performers from that part of the world. This year will also feature performances by Tilda Swinton, Willem Dafoe and Mikhail Baryshnikov. The fresh and experimental is actively encouraged by the festival so why not come and discover something new and exciting?
Due to our central location on the Left Bank and easy access to public transport, the Hotel Beaugrenelle Tour Eiffel is ideally placed for you to reach the various festival venues. Afterwards, why not relax in the comfort of our marble paved lounges?
