Eiffel Tower and amazing facts

It took 26 months and 5 days to complete the Eiffel Tower's construction. The magnificent 300 meter high structure was the tallest building in the world, until the Chrysler Building was built in 1930. The Eiffel Tower was meant to be demolished after 20 years. However, plans to dismantle it were abandoned, after Gustave Eiffel including it in experiments, using it as a giant pendulum and pressure gauge. It also doubled as a radio tower in 1898.

The Eiffel Tower won the hearts of the French, for the role it played in uncovering the spy Mata Hari. Its antenna intercepted radio messages from the Germans, which the French decoded, during the First World War. This incredible architectural monument draws millions of tourists worldwide, each year.
